  4. Generally, the text of the ORS seems to be missing apostrophes. For instance, ORS 105.580 says "director or the directors designee" twice.

  6. I am a college graduate and human factors engineer and I can't understand the legalese that laws are written in. It would be wonderful for someone to provide a plain language transcript. Isn't that already required via the Plain Language Act of 2010?

  7. Make the search feature take one directly to the statute when one enters what is clearly a statute. For example, if one searches for "ORS 112.735" or even just "112.735," the search feature should just pull up the page for that statute, perhaps with a link to search for documents containing the term. Like when you enter "1 + 1" at Google: it recognizes the search as a math problem and takes you to a page with an answer (since that is what you most likely want), but also gives an option to search for pages containing the term.

    Alternatively,…

Not a bad idea. Thanks. Currently, I solve this problem by making sure that this direct hit is the first in the result list. Implementing your idea might require some complicated UI design work. E.g., the statute page would need space to offer the option to go to further search results.

  11. Google scholar now has all US District court cases, all 9th cir decisions, and all SCOTUS decisions. It also has most state courts of appeals and supreme court decisions. Since legal research 101 is (a) look up the statute, then (b) look up cases referring to that statute, and you're providing (a), it would be nice to have (b) just one click away. In a sidebar maybe?

Or even zero clicks away- just pre-load the Scholar search via google's API. It probably wouldn't even slow your page load time.

Default options should be "Oregon and Federal Cases, Anytime"
